Almost 170 HK athletes to compete in National Games

Officials say 169 Hong Kong athletes will take part in the National Games in Shaanxi province later this month.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the government said SAR representatives will compete in 18 categories: archery, athletics, badminton, boxing, canoeing, cycling, equestrian, fencing, golf, gymnastics, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, volleyball, baseball/softball, karatedo, sport climbing and wushu.

Sport climbing athlete Au Chi-fung will be the flag bearer of the Hong Kong delegation at the opening ceremony at the Xian Olympic Sports Complex next Wednesday.

In the last National Games in 2017, Hong Kong athletes won two gold, seven silver and seven bronze medals.
