Damjanovic breaks record but Kitchee lose to Cerezo

Kitchee missed a golden opportunity in the Asian Champions League on a record-breaking night for their striker Dejan Damjanovic.

The Hong Kong champions had a 1-0 halftime lead against Cerezo Osaka in the second round of group games in Thailand. But the J-League side scored twice in three minutes after the restart, and they went on to win 2-1.

Cerezo got goals from Adam Taggart and Tiago Pagnussat.

Damjanovic scored in his second straight Champions League game for Kitchee. The Montenegrin star found the net on the 38th minute to become the competition’s all-time top scorer with 38 goals, moving past the retired South Korean Lee Dong-gook.

Kitchee have one win and one loss in the group stage so far.

Their next game is on Wednesday against Guangzhou who lost 3-0 to the hosts Port FC
