Kitchee make winning start to Asian Champions League

Hong Kong football champions Kitchee have made a winning start on their return to the Asian Champions League.

They pulled off a 2-0 win over Port FC in Thailand under rainy conditions thanks to goals from Beto and Dejan Damjanovic.

Damjanovic scored Kitchee’s second goal to match Lee Dong-gook’s record for most Asian Champions League goals with 37.

The Thai city of Buriram is hosting all of the Group J matches being played in over two weeks.

In the same group, the J-League side Cerezo Osaka defeated Guangzhou FC 2-0.

Kitchee face Cerezo on Sunday.

Kitchee are playing in the Asian Champions League for only the second time. In 2018, they recorded one win from six games.
