Hong Kong snooker star Ng On-yee has become the first Asian woman to gain entry to World Snooker’s professional tour where she’ll be competing against men.
The 30-year-old hasn’t played a lot in the past year because of Covid-19 but says it’s a “dream come true” to be given a chance to compete against the likes of Ronnie O’Sullivan, John Higgins, and Judd Trump. Hong Kong’s Marco Fu also plays on the tour.
Ng will be joined by England’s 12-time world champion Reanne Evans. The two have dominated the women’s game and both have now have been given a place on the main professional tour for the next two seasons.
Ng, a three-time women’s world champion, held the number one position in the women’s world ranking from February 2018 to April 2019.
