Windsurfers hoping to create golden memories in Tokyo

It’s been 25 years since Hong Kong’s first – and so far, only – gold medal at an Olympic Games.

Lee Lai-shan took home gold in the windsurfing event at Atlanta in 1996 – and Hong Kong has two more athletes who’ll be hoping to follow in her wake.

Both of Hong Kong’s windsurfers, Hayley Chan and Michael Cheng, are competing at the summer games for a second time. And both say they’re better prepared than ever before – while also looking to take advantage of a bit of local knowledge to boost their medal hopes.

RTHK’s Wong Yin-ting spoke to the Hong Kong pair about how they’ve matured since their last Olympic Games appearances, and how they’ve adapted to the challenges thrown up over the past year.
