SEOUL / MANILA / SINGAPORE / NEW DELHI / KUALA LUMPUR / ISLAMABAD – India's daily COVID-19 caseload Friday decreased to 6,298, according to federal health ministry data released on Friday.
It marked a decrease in comparison to the daily caseload of 6,422 on Thursday.
With the new cases, India's active caseload currently stands at 46,748, while the total tally is 44,522,777 in the country.
The country also logged 23 related deaths during the past 24 hours, taking the overall deaths to 528,273 since the beginning of the pandemic, the ministry said.
The daily positivity rate stands at 1.89 percent and the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 1.70 percent, the ministry data showed.
The ministry said so far 43,947,756 people have been successfully cured and discharged from hospitals, of whom 5,916 were discharged during the past 24 hours.
According to the health ministry, the cumulative COVID-19 vaccination coverage in the country has exceeded 2 billion doses and until Friday morning 2,161,778,020 doses were administered.

Malaysia
Malaysia recorded 2,375 new COVID-19 infections as of midnight Thursday, bringing the total tally to 4,813,702, according to the health ministry.
They included 11 new imported cases and 2,364 local transmissions, data released on the ministry's website showed.
Another three deaths have been reported from the pandemic, taking the death toll to 36,299.
The ministry reported 1,466 new recoveries from COVID-19, bringing the total number of patients cured and discharged to 4,750,198.
Pakistan
Pakistan reported 98 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, the country's ministry of health said on Friday.
The overall tally of the infected people climbed to 1,571,628 across the country after adding the fresh cases, according to the data released by the ministry.
A total of 30,604 people died of COVID-19 in Pakistan, with no more death over the last 24 hours, according to the ministry's statistics.
On Thursday, 14,467 tests were conducted throughout Pakistan whereas the positivity rate stood at 0.68 percent.
There are 85 patients who are in critical condition in the South Asian country.

South Korea
South Korea recorded 51,874 new COVID-19 cases as of midnight Thursday compared to 24 hours ago, bringing the total number of infections to 24,316,302, the health authorities said Friday.
The daily caseload was down from 71,471 in the previous day and lower than 69,399 tallied a week earlier, according to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency.
For the past week, the daily average number of confirmed cases was 54,633.
Among the newly reported infections, 348 were imported cases, lifting the total to 63,299.
The latest number of infected people who were in a serious condition stood at 516, up 25 from the previous day.
Sixty more deaths were confirmed from the pandemic, taking the death toll to 27,725. The total fatality rate was 0.11 percent.

Singapore
Singapore reported 2,423 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, bringing the total tally to 1,869,591.
Of the new cases, 217 cases were detected through PCR (polymerase chain reaction) tests and 2,206 through ART (antigen rapid test) tests, according to statistics released by the Ministry of Health.
Among the PCR cases, 194 were local transmissions and 23 were imported cases. Among the ART cases with mild symptoms and assessed to be of low risk, there were 1,992 local transmissions and 214 imported cases, respectively.
A total of 208 cases are currently warded in hospitals, with seven cases in intensive care units.
One death was reported from COVID-19 on Thursday, bringing the total death toll to 1,605, the ministry said.

The Philippines
The Philippines reported 2,141 new COVID-19 infections on Thursday, bringing the number of confirmed cases in the Southeast Asian country to 3,913,536.
The Department of Health (DOH) said the number of active cases rose to 24,843, while 31 more patients died from COVID-19 complications, pushing the country's death toll to 62,447.
Metro Manila, the capital region with over 13 million people, tallied 1,002 new cases.
The Philippines reported its highest COVID-19 single-day tally of 39,004 new cases on Jan 15. The country, with a population of around 110 million, has fully vaccinated over 72.8 million people.
