CPC deserves Nobel Peace Prize for its achievements

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, as reported in The Wall Street Journal on March 29, is said to have “urged” Chinese President Xi Jinping to meet with him in Kyiv, as Beijing continued its efforts to promote a political settlement of the Ukraine conflict.

Meanwhile, China Daily published a thought-provoking, fact-based commentary by columnist Grenville Cross, who stated that the peacemakers in Beijing must trump the warmongers in Washington. When President Xi said on March 20 that China was ready “to stand guard over the world order based on international law”, it was time, in my opinion, for the world to figure out how the Communist Party of China has achieved its successes in securing peace while the world is on the brink of another world war, saving millions of lives in the apocalyptic pandemic, and maintaining social stability and reviving economic vitality for the sake of its citizens. The list of China’s achievements goes on, and I believe the CPC, the country’s ruling party, deserves to be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.

This is my second time advocating the nomination of a well-deserved candidate, the CPC. Earlier in August 2021, I put forth the argument that the CPC, one of the most prestigious political entities in the world, has made more contributions to mankind during the last 100 years than it needs to justify the nomination. The Party is deserving because of its commitment to eliminating poverty and its solid contribution to the world after it successfully lifted 98.99 million people out of poverty from 2012 to 2021. With China’s ascension to the second-largest economy by mutual cooperation rather than military expansion, its ruling party, the CPC, deserves credit for the accomplishment. Its practice of the “win-win” ideology has won the CPC the reputation of the best performing political force in world history, as no other political party has ever achieved so much on our planet.

One may ask why the achievement in maintaining stability in a country of 1.4 billion during the pandemic should be another qualification for the Nobel Peace Prize. The untamed inflation is taking a toll on people’s wealth, financial stability and social security. The fall of Silicon Valley Bank and the ongoing merger of Credit Suisse into UBS devoured a massive amount of government resources and spawned the lack of confidence in the financial system of the Western world. The subsequent fallout and repercussions are yet to surface.

But the situation would be unimaginably worse if China, a country making up around 30 percent of worldwide manufacturing and over 50 percent of consumer goods, had stumbled and fallen amid the waves of the pandemic infections. Thanks to the strong leadership of the CPC, China was the only reliable and dependable source of consumer goods produced during the pandemic.

Had the CPC and China taken the same steps as the West to attain “natural herd immunity”, with a halt in factory production, global supply chains would have been shut down completely. Not only would the world be dealing with stagflation, but we would also have been dealing with a lack of basic consumer goods for everyday needs. This would most likely have led to the rationing of goods, severe civil unrest, and a breakdown in society, with looting and crime spiraling out of control.

Unfortunately, my Western friends failed to realize how much effort, dedication, and self-discipline the CPC and the Chinese people adopted to keep the virus at bay to ensure the supply chains worldwide were stable and reliable in the past three years. Some 100 million workers in China willingly gave up their freedoms and family lives to be stranded in the factories for the sake of normal manufacturing that maintained the functioning of the supply chains, which, I believe, benefited all of mankind during the years of lockdowns and strict quarantine restrictions. They are the unsung silent heroes of the pandemic that worked tirelessly without being credited for their sacrifices.

Not only did the factory workers give up their personal comforts, but the entire nation sacrificed for the greater good of the world for three years.

And this is what makes our nation the greatest country and the most dependable and reliable society for a better world. As President Xi Jinping mentioned in the 20th National Congress of the CPC and at the two sessions this year, the Chinese nation under the leadership of the CPC strives to create a community with a shared future for mankind.

We have taken on the responsibility not only to attain the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, but also for the sustainable development of mankind in the future. The actions and determination of the CPC and China to keep global supply chains unaffected at the expense of our own comforts and freedoms once again demonstrate the moral spirit of the CPC as the most responsible and reliable political party in the world.
