Paralympic medal hopes for HK in badminton, boccia

With the Tokyo Paralympics drawing to a close this weekend, Hong Kong athletes are in a final push for glory.

In the boccia pairs event, Hong Kong is in the semi-finals in both BC3 and BC4.

In BC4, the SAR topped pool B after winning all four of its matches. On Friday, the team of Leung Yuk-wing, Vivian Lau and Wong Kwan-hang beat the Russian Paralympic Committee and Thailand to stay unbeaten.

Hong Kong will take on Portugal in the semi-final on Saturday.

Also in semi-final action on Saturday is the BC3 team who will take on South Korea. The SAR had three wins and one loss and finished top of pool B.

Badminton players Chu Man-kai and Chan Ho-yuen also kept their medal hopes alive.

In SH6, despite losing to world number one Jack Shephard of Britain on Friday, Chu finished top of his group and advanced to the semi-finals.

He’ll play Vitor Goncalves Tavares of Brazil in the semi-finals on Saturday.

In WH2, second-seed Chan is in the final four after he beat Martin Rooke of the UK in the quarter-finals.

Chan’s next opponent is the top-seeded Kim Jung-jun of South Korea.
